Do you think there's an opportunity tp partner with Web 2.0?
I tried to use your box & edit in Paint. I have a hard time thinking within the box.
I will not even pretend to understand web 2.0, and am not a B-school thinker.
You need to concentrate on the WIIFM, how to make money without compromising your mission, and better define what "Cre8Buzz" is. How do you keep yourself different & better than the competition? Who is your competition?
Create your own category, carve out your own niche. I do not think of "The Buzz" as social media ( even though I guess it is ). I came here to make myself a better blogger (writer), To interact with the "Pros". To learn. With growth, it is harder to maintain quality. The ranking system has become a Big Game. I am starting to see similarities to the problems at YouTube. I actually consider Cre8Buzz, the YouTube of blogging.
The key is to reward good, original content and discourage ( outlaw ) ranking of unoriginal (pirated) content.
I can't see what I've wrote but I think I've taken up too much space here. Hope this helps...
Have now found contacts worldwide which is great. Keep up the good work.
I think something you've listed as an opportunity is also a threat to your longevity: the fact that this is a nascent industry. There are dozens of tech companies I can name that believed they had an edge because they were on the early side of the growth cycle, only to discover that the technology itself hindered their growth. This is a potentially huge issue with any business relying on 2.0 during the angel stage. (Not trying to be a downer over here, just a realist -- I'd add it to your threats column, too.)
Record a Video Comment?! How cool is that!? Sorry, I'm still in my PJ's; I'll have to come back some time when I'm all dolled- up!
The Ant - personable, real
Weaknesses: Speed
Adding, removing items (ever notice we can't remove much, just add?)
Need more user involvement and interest -- drum up some hype with challenges (like writing, photo, and craft challenges)- which have rewards.
Need the ability to write a message to all members or all friends using one e-mail, not having to send an e-mail to each person individually -- this is a real turnoff.
Opportunities: business contacts, coverage, inspiration, friends, honesty.......
Threats: Lack of stimulation by the heads for group activities. Lack of hype by the head guys.
Weaknesses: easy to "game" the system, buzzranking (yes, double edged sword), lack of viral nature, clunkiness (although it's not as big a problem as you may think)
Opportunities: targets bloggers and others who have a "product" they are proud of and want to generate buzz for (growing population), communities segmented by interest (perfect for demographic/psychographic ad targeting and promotions),
Threats: "Social Media" is a saturated market. Most people won't hang around enough to experience the differentiation that the buzz offers ("it's just another MySpace" syndrome), ad revenue alone will not support an online business anymore - that's a reality. Fickle-minded users (most people hang around until the next best thing comes along).
Opportunity: Social media niche network
Personally, the lingo and slang is worrisome and confusing. Yeah, I do understand your rap, but most will feel a bit creepy about it. Is this a community for the creative juices to show, or a website for teenage lingo and confusing formats?
Research the majority standards of web blogging and especially, live chat and foruming.
Your format and web design leaves everything to coding, with no easy to find explainations as to, what, where and how to's.
I am still quite lost. Navigation here is, is.....where is it actually?
I adore the concept here. I applaud it. But, I firmly believe, in order for your venture to take off; you need to fire up four engines instead of one. Make things readily available. Properly outline your website, like any outline for a story. Lead your members through a visual understanding, page by page. Even genious has it's blindness. Identify what your target membership will want and need. Entrepenuers?.....Hey, I would be in a hurry, so make me some features that are convenient and fast.
Just some thoughts, from someone with many years of experience in web communities.
Check my music publicity blog. It's a local deal, but If your a musician in Ohio region, I can make you a awfully great deal.
